• ecobee3 is not supported on the Staples Connect platform

• There's an android app, but they've exposed an API that many home automation apps use.

• As far as I'm aware, not yet. The Wink Hub is the only one officially supported by Ecobee at this time.

• This will work directly with your Android device, there is an Ecobee App in the App Store, you shouldn't need any other software. If you want to interface with other systems it does support IFTTT.
