Only a router, the third pack if for more house coverage vs the 2 pk. Not sure about WPS3, I had mine installed by my new internet company.

If the ISP requires a modem to get internet access via ethernet you will need to get a modem. 2: Yes, eero does have WPA3, but it doesn't enable by default. You would turn in by going to eero app->Discover->eero Labs. 3: You will have one eero hardwired directly to the internet connection/modem. This eero will be the head/gateway eero and will broadcast wireless for your devices to connect to. Additional eero can connect to the gateway eero (wired or wirelessly) and will broadcast the same wifi network, giving your devices a closer access point to connect to, and thus, more range. If you get good coverage with just one or with 2 eero, you won't need the third one.
