Yes, you can use the older units to extend your range. They will just not perform as well as the pro 6 units, so use them where the speed does not matter as much. We have that same setup, the pro 6 as our base units for things that need the speed and bandwidth, and our older pro units for things that don’t need that much, like security cameras, smoke detectors and such.

I wouldn’t see any reason with multiple connection points to need an extender, it defeats the purpose of the mesh WiFi system.

No, they will not work as WiFi extenders.
