I did talk about this in my review that I just submitted. Sadly there is not expansion internally and replacing/upgrading the drive will require a great amount of time and effort from what I saw in the Maintenance manual HP has available on this line of Envy's. There's not panels to speak of and there's only screws holding the base in underneath the rubber feet that run across the bottom. I fathom that removing these and opening up the bottom will in fact void the warranty. A couple alternatives, the Envy does have an SD Slot. You could look at purchasing an extremely fast SD Card (not microSD) and then just format it and keep it in the port. Another option would be to purchase an external SSD and simply connect it when needed. If you go this route, I'd recommend seeing if you can find one that uses USB-C as it will offer better performance. The last option would be to inquire in store by talking with one of the Geek Squad techs and see if they are able to perform the upgrade as typically in this scenario it may not void the warranty. I'd call HP first though and see if you can speak with a Tech (In English) to clarify or find an alternative.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
