i had the same issue, google forums said the nozzle head were clogged. 
nozzle cleaning is extensive work, do yourself a favor and throw epson products in the garbage where they belong,

Be sure to remove the strip of tape before inserting cartridge. Printer should recognize cartridge.

I found that with the Epson printer you could not just replace one cartridge but unfortunately had to replace all of the colors even if they were not completely out of ink
