Why is the cartridge for the Epson black ink cartridge 273 twice as wide as the 273XL? The 273XL cartridge is advertised as having more ink but the 273 cartridge has a larger capacity. Does Black vs. Photo Black have something to do with it? null

the 273xl black is the wide high capacity cartridge
the 273 black is the standard size
the 273 Photo Black only comes in standard, same size as the 2 colors ink

Photo Black is used for PHOTO printing ONLY which is actually kind of a Dark GREY color instead of completely black... & regular Black ink is used mostly for TEXT, When printing out black & white Documents.

You have to different inks there. The larger one is the Standard Black cartridge, which for my Espon 820 is to the far left. The other one is PBK is the Photo Black cartridge, which for mine is to the far right. The reason the Standard Black cartridge is larger is because it's the most used color. I hope this is helpful!!
