Hello cindy. To help better assist you, we would need to confirm the printer model. Please note that even when selecting to print in Black & White, most of our CMYK printers could still use a mixture of color inks to create black on your prints. So when an ink cartridge is expended, the printer will prompt you to replace the specific color. Regards - Kevin - The Epson Team.
