“How do you know when a call is coming in on the shared fax line. Have 2 lines in my office. Use one line for fax and personal calls. Old fax machine recognized when it was a call and not a fax and rang different. Please help”

You might want to try adding a ComSwitch 5500. I used one to solve this problem a decade ago and can't remember the details, but it worked fine.
