“Does it update firmware wirelessly, and without a CD as the new Studio Mac does not have a drive to load a disc? My Epson 860 will update software and drivers wirelessly, but not firmware, which I can only update with a cable connection.”

Hello Colin. You can find the latest Firmware updates for the ET-4850 available for download on our official Epson Support page. Unfortunately, the update cannot be done wirelessly. The printer must be connected to your computer via USB. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
