A:AnswerHP and Epson use different cartridges to supply ink for their printers - so no, they are not compatible. Inkjet is cheaper than toner - I assume you are talking about toner in laser printers.
If you only print rarely, inkjet may dry up on you and then you have a mess getting them working again. Laser toner won't do that. Color laser is still pretty pricey, but if you only need b/w, HP has a model now less than $200, a steal IMHO, that is, someone who used to spend thousands on something comparable 30 years ago.
It's a tough call for sure. I have a small call for printing, so I went with this XP-4200 because I know I want color and I know I'll print something every week or two.
