Will the Fastfoto Ff-640 work with a Mac? null

Yes- Epson has software that is MAC compatible for the photo scanning. My wife uses Mac Book

It works fine with my MacBook Pro 15" mid 2014 build and will import directly into the Photos app if you want it to.
