I bought mine a few weeks ago. The manual states two maintenance activities are needed; replacement of the roller assembly after 120,000 scans, and more frequent and vital routine cleaning of the rollers. I cleaned the rollers with the microfiber cloth after about every 300 scans for the first 3,000 scans or so. The manual recommends only the use of microfiber. This was working fine until about 3,000th scan. Then the typical symptoms of the dirty rollers (white lines and distortions) started to appear, in spite of the cleaning. Now I clean after each 50 scans but the distortion still appears on some scans. Oddly, the distorted copies appear on about 2 to 5% of the batch scan, not on all or not continuously. I escalated the cleaning method to the use of a vacuum cleaner, both suction and blow, and sticky tape but the distortions still occur. It's a great machine when it is working right.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.no this was not helpful. I have the same issue. Especially if using older pages from old magazines. Very disappointment, that it picks the ink up and even if you clean it, does not really matter.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I scanned tubs full of photos and was prompted to clean the scanner which was quick and easy.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The only maintenance of which I am aware is the cleaning of the scan head on occassion (like, every 200+ scans, though frankly I've done 300+ without incident). The entire process is simple; flick a switch on the face and the clamshell-like design opens, giving access to the scan head - which you simply wi[e with a microfiber cloth (one is included with the scanner). That's it. No liquids, not mechanical stuff - just wipe and close it and get on with the scanning.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Very minor - occasionally you need to open the front (which just opens clamshell style with the press of a lock button) and wipe the scanning head with a lint-free cloth. In the 500 prints I have scanned so far, I have done this twice, each time taking all of 30 seconds.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not sure about recommended maintenance but they may be referring to wiping the rollers (and interior of the unit) every 500 photos or so. Very very easy and quick to do. A message is posted each time that should be done.
