Can I scan slide and negatives on it ? null

I tried scanning slides and negatives but they turned out really dark. I'm not sure if it was the software or what. I used to be able to scan slides in college with photoshop but we had a holder for the negatives, not sure if that was the problem with this or not. Sorry I'm not very helpful.
