Nice minimalistic style scanner
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1. Very lightweight and compact so does not take up a lot of space. 2. Only one cable, USB powered, no need for bulky A/C adapters. 3. It has a built-in kick stand, which allows you to place on table vertically instead of flat. 4. No warm-up time is required, thanks to Epson's ReadyScan LED Technology (from Epson's website). I hadn't used scanners others than the iPhone app for some time so this reminded me the old times when you had to wait 5 minutes for your first scan. 5. Sharp image quality (4800 dpi), adjustable in settings if you need lighter file sizes. (1) and (2) make it a great choice for scanning on the go. I carry it in a small backpack toghether with my Macbook Pro with no hassle. (3) is good for desk real estate optimization Disclaimer: I haven't used it for large whole day scanning sessions but after roughly a hundred pictures scanned it is still working perfectly.

Worlds better than a all-in-one printer/scanner

Excellent value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this for scanning small drawings and it is a wonder. I spent years doing it the wrong way by relying on my dslr. This relatively small device gives you clarity, and accurate color for a decent price. If you've been eyeing this, don't hesitate on a purchase.

Total waste of my time and efforts.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I run 64bit Windows 10 professional or whatever the version is that isn't the Home version on my PC. This scanner scans fast... at 200dpi. If you set it for anything higher it warns you that higher dpi cause larger files and encourages you to choose something smaller. Sorry, my goal with purchasing a new scanner was to get one that could do better than the 600dpi in my all in one printer scanner copier. Choosing a higher dpi (I wanted to scan old photos to share with family members attending a funeral in a few days) results in the computer crashing after every three pictures scanned in. The scans are full of artifacts and thus unusable. The time estimates given for scans... 71 minutes, 38 minutes or whatever are laughably bad. None of the half hearted scans took nearly that long before the scanner decided it was done with the scan. Downloading the software from Epson was the easiest part of using this thing. I'm returning it and running as fast as I can toward a different brand even if it means that friends and family attending the funeral will have to wait for the new scanner to arrive some time next month. I chose this one because it was in stock locally but it was a total waste of my time and efforts. I included the last attempt to get a good scan of a picture of my mother and her sister back in 1963. ALL the scans had a line above which nothing lined up with anything below it. Unacceptable.

Identical
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Scanner was a replacement for an older Epson V37 Scanner. I wanted a Scanner that was similar to the V37 and easy to use. Besides a difference in the Menu Buttons as to their function, the V39 is identical. Having used Epson products since 2004 Epson has kept the excellent quality that I expect. I expect to have many years of use with this Scanner.

Q: Questionwill this scanner work with windows 10
Asked by ejm.
- A:Answer Once my PC 'updated' to Windows 10 my Canon multi function copier/printer SCANNER drivers no longer worked. I went through MANY frustrating hours for several days to try and get them to communicate. I finally gave up and bought this Epson Perfection v39. I got rid of my flatbed scanner many years ago and really didn't want to get another one because of the space it took up on my desk. This flatbed scanner is awesome! It's compact enough to fit on my desk using the built-in kickstand. On most one-page documents and receipts, I don't even have to pull it out and lay it flat. Just leave the scanner on it's kickstand and it will work. Worked GREAT with Windows 10 right away. Best $$ ever spent! This little sucker is FAST too. Once it scans your first page, you can reload the subsequent pages while the scanner resets internally to the 'home' position. Comes with all the software you need too! I use it to archive documents mainly. Scan receipts, warranties, everything to make a more efficient paperless office. I make PDF files several times a day with it and it's always reliable and a pleasure. Scan handwritten notes for customer files and emails. The PDF files are text-searchable too. Easily makes copies too. For multiple page documents, configure your '.pdf' button on the machine to the scan settings you want, and then just keep hitting the start button on the machine. Once you're done scanning, click on the 'finish' button on the software and it will save the multiple page .pdf file when you reach the last page. No complaints. Love it for our small business. Pull the top straight off and you can place thicker books on it for scanning.

Q: QuestionAuto Cropping feature: If I place 4 photos on the scanner, will it crop and save all 4 as individual files? or is this limited to 1 file?
Asked by Mike.
- A:Answer You have the option to save as individual files. I used it recently to scan a large batch of family photos and it worked great for getting through over 100 photos in a short time.

Q: QuestionWhy is it usb 2.0? USB 3.0 is the latest and faster. When usb 4.0 comes out will epson get usb 3.0?
Asked by vinm134.
- A:Answer USB 3.0 is faster than USB 2.0, but you have to ask if that really makes any difference. The scanning process much takes longer than the data transmission via USB, so a faster USB wouldn't result in a noticeable improvement in the speed of the whole process.

Q: QuestionI have YEARS of photos. I want to scan and store them on a flash drive or something. Help!
Asked by Oldtimer.
- A:Answer For Windows: Scan the pictures and save them in "my pictures". Then insert the flash drive. Go to pictures and right click and copy each picture and paste on flash drive. If they are in a folder, copy & paste the folder. Should be there. This can be done with just about anything that can be copied & pasted, including software. NEVER shut down a computer with a flash drive. If you leave it in, when you start the computer, it could really mess things up. I worked for Dell for 5 years and it drove me nuts unscrabbling the mess I made with mine when I left a drive in and forgot to take it out. Good luck. Don

- A:Answer Yes. It will work natively with OSX image capture software, but if you want multi page scanning ability (adding new scans to a single pdf etc) you can get the free support software from the website linked on the disc that comes with the scanner.
