will this scan black & white negtives null

out of the box it will not scan a negative correctly. There is no accessory provided by Epson to scan slides or negatives it lacks a light source. This is not a good choice for negatives and slides.

I don't believe so. I've scanned negatives with a special negative scanner. For example, I have inserted 35mm slides into the contraption and, with a little experimenting, it will give you a satisfactory picture. The problem is that there's no projection on the flat scan bed to control focus.

Have not tried to use it for this. Suspect it will only if you have or purchase a "slide" carrier.
