“I can't find any reference to scanning slides, although I see this scans both negatives and prints. Does it scan 35mm slides? If so is an attachment needed?”

Scanning slides not advisable with any flatbed scanner. Best bet - go to a real camera store and get a slide copier adapter to work with a macro lens SLR or decent point 'n shoot camera.
