Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You must be connected to your computer to scan as they are saved on it, not on the scanner. Plus, you set the parameters for the scan on the computer, like what kind of file to create and DPI.

Apparently Epson is picky and prefers its own USB cord rather than a generic, Take the scanner, power supply, and if appropriate, the negative/slide holder to you father's house. If you didn't bring your own laptop, attach to his computer and download the latest driver from Epson support if necessary. Make a folder "Scanned photos" somewhere on you father's hard drive and have that as the destination for all scans. When done, copy that single folder with its contents to a USB flash drive and take it home with you. Now both of you have copies.

It pains me to say that because I really like this scanner and am using it to archive thousands of pictures and old family documents. It works great. This is a full-sized flatbed scanner. It sounds like you may want one of the portable "photo" scanners that are out there. Best of luck...
