First of all you will not get close to 1100 pages. The ink companies use this to see the value of their packs. Read the very fine print, they tell you that is with 5 % of coverage. Who only prints at 5 % of the size of the paper? Every printer company uses this rating to get consumers to buy their overpriced ink. Let's be honest here, it's not the overall cost of the printer, it is the ink that is the big expense. One more quick note, I don't believe any company gives full ink cartridges on your printer purchase. They are starter cartridges which are half full. Second, look again, black is used whenever color is used too. So while using your color ink, the black is also being used. The XL cartridge is probably a better overall price per page use, but black is used on every print made.
