• The file is saved as PDF. I am not really an Excel expert but I believe there is software out there to convert a file from PDF to Excel.

• Yes it is a very good scanner. I'm happy with it. It's more of a physical scanner. I haven't used it to import from the computer. You might need a printer scanner to do what you are asking to import from excel. But you can scan physical receipts to the computer.
