BEWARE - THE SPECS ARE WRONG

As a frequent BestBuy consumer and Total Tech member, I want to give a "shout-out" to BestBuy and Epson to **correct the details** in this product's write-up. I want to say right at the start that this review is NOT a "slam" against Epson, because I think they make very good products overall, and this product is no different. But I purchased this product **SPECIFICALLY** for mobile duplex function, because the BestBuy write-up says that it has a duplex function (see the photo below). The wireless feature was a bonus, and wasn't a deal-breaker for me. After setting it up, I discovered it was not duplex-scanning. The scan settings had no option to turn a duplex mode on. I emailed Epson's OWN support center, and they confirmed that this product is NOT capable of duplex scanning. The only mobile scanner that they currently offer that has a native duplex function is the DS-320 which, while listed as a mobile scanner, is larger than the ES-60W. My trial of the ES-60W revealed that the product does indeed run very quickly and efficiently and is easy to operate. It has a more compact form factor than similar mobile scanners from another major brand, which may be a factor for some people. The software, though taking a bit to get the hang of it, is comprehensive. The added wireless feature is full-featured, allowing you to connect the scanner to your PC or laptop and scan wirelessly - AND SEAMLESSLY, which is more than I can say for that other major brand of mobile scanner. So, if you don't want and/or "need" native duplex function in a low-footprint sheet-fed mobile scanner, I would wholeheartedly recommend this scanner over others. But if you're looking for an Epson-brand scanner that CAN perform native duplex function, then you need to pass on this model. I wrote this review not to be entered in any "sweepstakes", or to "slam" BestBuy or Epson. Again, this review is simply to call out the glaring error in the product write up on the BestBuy website/app, with the hope that the relevant people at BestBuy and Epson will work quickly to ensure that it's corrected so that customers have accurate information on which to base their purchasing decisions.

Wireless requires a 2.4GHz router which is not listed on its spec and I don't have. Duplex listed on its spec is actually not available. I got the searchable pdf (ocr) set up which is a good but the instruction was not that obvious. The package has a booklet in Spanish only. I had to find the English manual online. Sorry, I cannot give a better rating. Have to send it back.

Good product - horrible MicroUSB recharge port

As one reviewer already mentioned regarding the recessed microUSB port: "- Uses micro-USB cable to charge. Can’t use any micro-USB cable due to port being recessed within a small area. Most cables won’t fit through the small opening, therefore you have to carry around the EPSON micro-USB cable to charge. Seems to be a bad design flaw in my opinion. " This is an inexcusably awful design, especially for a device designed to be portable on taken on travel. There are fins in the recessed area that severely limits the size of the connecting cable. I finally lost or misplaced Epson's cable that came with the device and was unable to recharge. So I went to my toolbox and ripped the fins and even the bottom of the recessed area out to allow my microUSB cables to work. If I were on travel and didn't bring the special Epson microUSB cable... A really stupid design - minus 3 stars just for this senseless imposition. Otherwise it works fine with my Android device.

I was super excited to get this scanner. I do not scan often so it was great to have a little compact scanner for the times that I need it. I purchased this one a little less than 2 years ago. It was working fine up until today. Now, there is a thick black line on the document. I called Epson customer service and they stated the product is out of warranty and they could provide me with a list of certified Epson Servicing Companies. I am extremely disappointed in the product and customer service. This scanner was barely used. I can't even remember the last time I scanned something. It sat on my shelf for most of the time with nothing on it. Now, it's broken. What a waste of money.

After opening the package and being impressed by the small size and light weight of this scanner, charge the battery completely before using it as the manual says. The set up is very easy, just download the Epson documentScan app to my ipad and follow the instructions. After that I was ready to scan. It has the perfect size for my home since I only scan receipts and invoices and it avoids me having a lot of documents piled up everywhere. It is one sheet fed scanner but the is scan spead and software is fast as someone can think for the size of the product. Lightweight for on the go and unobstructive your have in home. It comes with USB cable, cleaning sheet and calibration sheet. Have LCD display that shows your status. I exchanged this unit twice. Immediately using the unit it had been doing the same issue. Every scan had black lines. I tried cleaning it, recalibrating it. It's a constant pain in the butt. I only have been scanning receipts with it. I had an older Epson DS-40, that thing was a tank. Slower but it scanned with no problems and no issues. Whatever is happening, its causing either the glass inside to get clogged up with some sort of residue by the roller, or scratching the glass. It may be hard to see but I attached a photo.

A Great Scanner for the Road Warrior

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Summary The Epson WorkForce ES-60W is an ideal scanning companion for the road warrior, mobile business professional who needs to get the job done when taking a picture with a smartphone and calling it a scanned image is simply not good enough. Here’s the essentials of what you need to know about the ES-60W to make your purchase decision: THE GOOD +Portability - Really ultra portable. This scanner checks all the boxes for for those who need something compact and lightweight. The scanner measures a measly 10.7” x 1.8” x 1.3” (see the photograph) and weighs a featherweight 0.7 lbs. It easily fits in a business briefcase, messenger bag, or a large pocket of a laptop bag. +Fast Scanning. I tested the scanning speed and can corroborate Epson’s marketing claim that this scanner can complete a single page (8.5”x11”) scan in 4 seconds. Doesn’t matter if its color, black and white, or gray scale. Super fast scans. This is of course using the standard 300 dpi setting. If you needed a super high resolution image of 1200 dpi, which this scanner will do, it will take 8 seconds to complete. That’s still pretty fast in my book. +Connect Wirelessly or Wired. It’s up to you. The Epson software will automatically detect when it is connected via the supplied usb cable and switch to wired mode. You have choices even for wireless connection: manual wireless connection through your home or office router, automatic connection through Wireless Protected Setup (WPS) if your router has that feature, or Direct WiFi mode where the scanner creates its own wireless access point (AP) and you go to your computer or phone’s wifi settings and locate the Epson scanner SSID. In wireless AP mode, you’ll need to enter in the network security password which is located on the underside of the ES-60W scanner. +Scans to the Cloud, to your local pc/laptop/mac, and to your smartphone. Send the scan via e-mail or to Google Drive or to Dropbox. +Epson Smart Scan program has lots of features and adjustments. +Similarly, the Epson Document Scan app for smartphones is feature rich and easy to use. I love that you can scan directly into the phone with the app. Eliminates the need to take out the laptop. +Comes with a software plug-in to convert and save your scans directly into Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents for editing. +The scanner software will create searchable pdfs. Great when you need to search for keywords in a document. +Scans multiple sheets into a single file. You’ll just need to manually feed the sheets one-by-one into the scanner. Each sheet is displayed immediately on the computer screen while it scans, so you’ll be able to see if the scan was incomplete or coming out warped or excessively skewed and rescan those sheets and delete the incomplete/warped scans before saving the file. +Battery Meter. There is a battery meter on the scanner that provides an estimate of the amount of battery remaining. In the Epson Scan 2 Utility you can also set up the time intervals where the scanner will go into Power Save Stand-By mode and shut off. +Comes with a cleaning sheet that will clear the scanner of dust when spots or lines start appearing on the scanned image. +Comes with a calibration sheet to help fix image quality problems (supposed to fix image blurriness, color inaccuracies, vertical lines on images). Haven’t had to use it yet, but handy to have. THE NOT SO GOOD -Feeding the sheet into the scanner will take practice, and even after you think you’ve mastered it, you’ll sometimes still need to support the paper with your hand to ensure that it makes contact with the roller that brings the paper into the scanner. In the ideal scenario, the scanner’s roller is supposed to automatically ‘grab’ the paper so that when you hit the scan button, it will feed the paper through the scanner without your further assistance. However, in actual practice you’ll find out that the scanner’s automatic grab and feed is far from perfect. As I described above, sometimes you’ll need to gently support the sheet with your hand and ensure the paper makes positive contact with the roller (see the photograph). If you do this, you will have a more enjoyable experience with the scanner. -Simplex (SINGLE SIDED) scanning only. In other words, no duplex scanning. I’m sure Epson could easily include duplex scanning in the ES-60W, but it was probably a marketing decision to leave it out so as not to cannibalize sales of its other portable scanners that do offer duplex scanning. -The Epson Smart Scan program only saves in PDF, searchable PDF, and JPG. That’s probably enough for the 99% of users out there. For example, it won’t save as a TIFF, BMP, or PNG if that’s what you’re interested in. I’ve used other scanners that save the scans to a wide variety of formats. You’ll just need other software to help with those conversions when using the ES-60W. -Epson uses micro-usb and usb 2.0 type-A for the cable connections for the ES-60W scanner when usb type-c is becoming ubiquitous. Just saying, that’s all. You can render your own judgement depending on the connections on your pc/mac/laptop. -Questionable build quality. It’s fine that the scanner is constructed entirely from plastic to cut down on weight. However, do note that the top piece of the scanner has some flex to it. I’m concerned that excess flexing at the top of the scanner may cause some damage to the internals. I just don’t know. I’ll be a bit careful about where and how I place the scanner in my travel bag. Would have been nice if Epson could have designed the top piece with some more reinforcement to prevent flex. Would I recommend the Epson ES-60W? The shortcomings I listed above are not enough to prevent me from recommending this scanner. Given its compactness and light weight, the ultra portability alone is enough reason to give this scanner some serious consideration. This little scanner is an excellent performer as I was able to scan documents, business cards, fine paper receipts, and even photographs (using a carrier sheet) with the Epson ES-60W without issue. The feature rich Epson Document Scan app allows you to quickly make image and scanning adjustments without having to reach for your laptop and is a very nice modern convenience to have. I’ve used many Epson scanners over the years for both work and home. So far I have yet to be disappointed by any of them. They all produce good to very good scanned images. You really can’t go wrong with the ES-60W if you’re a professional who’s always on the go and need a high quality scanner in your business tool box.

Small but mighty! Who knew I really needed a scanner? A small one that I can take with me in my purse! This scanner is so much easier to use than the big one on my multi function printer. The set up was very easy. Just go to the website indicated and enter info and click. So simple! I was able to connect with my laptop and my iPad and on my iPhone. It is great that there are options to save as a picture, pdf, email. What could be easier? Just a push of a button gets it going! I think the best feature is how portable it is! The price on this device is reasonable! Any office can easily fit it in their budget. In fact they may want one for each employee so that they can have it available all the time and not have to share it! “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-60W Wireless Portable Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

I was excited to get this scanner. I never did like using a all-in-one printer to transfer for Docs, so this is a fresh new alternative. Set up was easy, Software installed with No issues (Win 10) but was necessary to use Chrome for The download, Edge browser did not work properly. You will need to fully charge the battery before first use which did take some time. Once set up I Installed SW on 2 different Laptops. You will need to re-pair to the desired Laptop if switching PC’s. There is a slight delay when pressing The scan button before the scan takes place. The scan and Transfer time to the PC is very quick. There are several options To save your document. I mainly use PDF and MS Word. The Device will easily fit into a full Size (15.6) Laptop Sleeve. This Is definitely my Go To scan tool! This is a well designed Tool and would be handy for personal or business use.

When I took the scanner out of the box I immediately found the instructions and charging cord. The instructions were very easy to follow. The scanner had to be charged before I could use it but it didn't take long to charge at all. I think I might have charged it for about 15-20 minutes. After I charged it I went to the website and downloaded the software. Once the software download was done the scanner was ready to use. Scanning my document was super easy and didn't take long at all. I love that the scanner is wireless so I don't have to worry about needing the cord to scan documents. I also love that it is compact and I can put it in my purse for on the go use. The scanner works great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs to scan on the go. Upon unpacking the portable scanner, the first thing I noticed is that it is extremely light weight! I was able to unwrap it, open it, and connect it to my laptop in just a few short minutes. The scanner is sleek, easy to carry and very much compact for my desk. I scan worksheets and paperwork every few days for my daughters schooling as well as for work purposes. I have gone through many scanners but what sets this one apart is the slim design. It is easily storable and a classic black color. The button and screen at the top of the device is slightly raised and clearly visible. As it was connecting and charging I could clearly see the icons blink. The first laptop I utilized my scanner with was a Lenovo laptop. The website provided in the instructions was very explicit and stated a driver must be added to get the scanner to connect both wirelessly and hardwired through the cable/laptop. I had a bit of trouble adding the last set up portion of the driver. I’m not entirely sure what the issue was, but after giving it a few minutes, I was able to complete it! Still, after my minor issue, the scanner connected and I then scanned some samples! I am surprised that the paper feed went in quite easily and that the image came through quickly. This efficiency is the key to my productiveness and I am thoroughly grateful for a device that has such ease of use! Overall, wonderful product and a new staple for my work desk. I could not believe how small & lightweight it was when it arrived.I had been scouting for a portable scanner to take on the job with my job as a visiting nurse.I absolutely love this scanner.I scan signed documents,ID cards and even pictures of wound for the wound care team.I had no trouble using the software that I downloaded from the epson website.I save my scans to PDF files.I love that the software has editable word & excel.I wish it had a compatability to use a memmory stick and cropping on the software.one thing that I dont like is each item has to be scanned individually. Also the battery has a shorter life time on a single charge.I get about 90 scans before recharging. My overall impression of this scanner is that its well made & a cinch to operate.therefore saving me valuable time on the job.I love that I do not have to nudge the document through the scanner.I tried it once and the image was pixelated & distorted.I now just let it self feed.I also love that I can not only save my scans to file but send them in email form.this is my first portable scanner & I am sold."“This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-60W Wireless Portable Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

“This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-60W Wireless Portable Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.” I followed the directions as followed and I installed the software. It stated that it was installed but there had seemed to be an issue with it connecting to the Wi-Fi. So I went into the Printers and Scanners section of my Settings and it was able to read it there. When placing a document through to be scanned, you have to place it on the left side of the portable scanner in order for it to give you the best results that your looking for. So I placed my document on the left side of it and it went straight through the scanner and I was able to read everything that was on that document. It was very clear, it looked like the company sent it to me in an e-mail, that is how clear it was . I liked the fact that when the document feeds through the scanner that it moves quickly. Which saves you time in your daily tasks. It is light weight and not heavy at all which is a good thing. It was also easy to access the Wi-fi button as well as the power button. How you know that the power is on is by the thin white light that lights up. You have to make sure that you charge it fully first before using it. You will know that it's fully charged when the batter light turns off completely. I liked this product a lot and am so happy to have one it will make it easier for business purposes It's energy efficient as well. I highly recommend this product. It's energy efficient as well.

The Epson ES-60W wireless document scanner was easy to setup and even easier to use. The unit itself is slick looking in all black and has a very small form factor. No wasted engineering here. The scanner has a built-in battery and Wi-Fi radio. Documentation states that a single charge can scan up to 300 pages. I wasn’t able to put that to the test. However, I didn’t personally experience any battery shortcomings in my usage so far. You charge it using the included USB cable (micro B). The scanner has a 600 dpi and is compatible with many different paper sizes – including standard letter, legal and business cards. It should be noted that this unit does not duplex – single side scanning only. Download the appropriate software from Epson’s website and get started. Overall, I'm very pleased with this little unit. No question, it delivered reliable performance in a truly portable setup.

I work from home and sometimes that requires me to visit client's on site. This scanner is the ultimate in convenience. It is very light and compact, way to pack in a computer bag or in a backpack. It is also very quick and fairly simple to set up. The scans come out perfectly; as well as my full size scanner copier in the office or even better. This is surprisingly a workhorse, I was able to scan many pages and sizes of documents very quickly and easily. I have attached a picture of the scanner compared to the size of my house and you can see how tiny and portable it is. My only caveat was that when downloading the software to run the scanner, I was not prompted to restart the computer before the scanner connected. I am a tech person, so I was able to problem solve quickly, but other people might get frustrated and think they uploaded the software incorrectly. Let me start by saying, I don't do 5-star reviews unless the product is really 5-stars! This lil scanner is a Godsend for my couponing needs! I buy at lots of stores & get many rebates from apps that require either pictures of scans of the coupon. This Epson scanner allows me to scan receipts, business cards, paperwork and even photos! Once you plug it into your computer, it automatically opens the install files. Click a few times, and you're good to go! It scans in literally 5 seconds, at most. Once scanned, it can open the scanned files up so that you can edit or rotate before you save it. Finalization options include save to cloud, save to computer, send, print and even a receipt tracking folder!! I love that it can be taken wirelessly, granted there is wifi. All in all this scanner is a portable and QUICK way to organize your life & business, whether you're an office professional, or a stay at home mom with a desire to cut costs by couponing! This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-60W Wireless Portable Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I would recommend this to a friend
