However, The a5100 is an APS-C camera, so the focal length of the lens must be multiplied x1.5 to get the actual focal length for your camera. For example, a 28mm lens is 28mm focal length on a full frame camera, but on APS-C the focal length is 42MM (28 x 1.5).

This lens will fit on a5100 but with restrictions: -The SteadyShot is not supported. -On standby in movie mode, and when recording movies, the lens goes into MF mode. If you update the camera system software to Version 3.10 or higher, AF will be enabled. -In Focus mode, AF-A cannot be selected. Focal plane phase detection AF is not supported. If you update the camera system software to Version 3.10 or higher, you will be able to use AF-A and focal plane phase detection AF. Regards, Vincent
