Apples and oranges. It's a compact fast fixed focal length lens, 50-210 is a telephoto zoom with a wide range.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Its really good compared to 50-210mm and images look sharp with nice bokeh when shot at f1.8.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The wide aperture on the 50 f/1.8 allows you to take photographs in darker situations. It also allows you for blur out the background more effectively in portraits when you open it up.

Please try again later.Assuming you are trying to compare results from the 50-210mm at 50mm to the prime 50mm lens...I would say the results are better with the prime lens. The prime lens has a lower f stop, thus allows more light in -- which generally leads to better pictures.. I personally have both lenses and use my prime lens 98% of the time...I only use the 50-210mm lens when I can not get closer to my subject. If you have the money, get the prime lens -- but, spend time thinking if you want to 50mm version or the 35mm version
