Can this unit be ran just off the battery? null

If you were to run the unit just off the two AA batteries, you should check the voltage of each battery on a daily basis, just be on the safe side. However, this is NOT advisable. The owner's manual for the CO alarm clearly states that the unit is not designed to run off of the batteries for an extended period of time.
