Funny, Fisher-Price did read this site and did answer questions up to a week ago but they did go radio silent after the first "pre-sale" sold out. Since then they've been ignoring all the questions. Maybe this was just a PR stunt on their part all along.

And judging from their non-answers to any questions on Best Buy, Facebook, Twitter, and their own site, I'd question whether "they know what they're doing". My guess is that they as a company the demand for this thing completely took them by surprise. They know how to forecast Little People and Baby Blocks but not demand on the order of magnitude of an iPhone release. They probably planned for a tiny production run but didn't realize it would sell out before they even got their first social media post about it up.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Um....scroll down and read the answers from "Mattel Consumer Services" that clearly gave accurate answers to questions. Fisher Price is owned by Mattel. It's also spelled "Fisher", not "Fischer".
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Um...there is no Mattel or Fischer-Price customer service on this site. This is Best Buy's site. Those were bogus accounts.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Why are you asking Mattel a question on a Best Buy site? Why would Mattel customer service have any way to respond on a Best Buy platform? If your question is for Mattel, you should probably ask it on a Mattel site. This is like asking Apple Customer Service a question on Best Buy, or Nintendo. As for the demand estimate...they know what they're doing.
