IF you set it up correctly it will show both the caller and the message or you can just set it up to only show who called.

The FitBit Alta model is BlueTooth communication only; it does not show call/message info.

You will feel like a tap when you get a call or incoming text. It shows who calls and/or the message is from. If the message is too long, it is truncated.

It shows who the message is from and the actual text scrolls across the screen same for phone calls including FaceTime. Even if you have alarms or events set on your phone the watch will vibrate and the alert will appear.

The Alta does show who is calling/mesaging, but only once after the initial vibration. so you have to tap the screen and check it quick! :)
