Why is there 4X4 metal plate color grey inside microwave? Just out of the box I noticed a 4X4 piece of metal inside on the control side. It is grey color. My old microwave had a plate, but it was coated in white. Is this right?
Won't this interfere with the cooking?

That’s a great question! The part is called a waveguide. Even though the waveguide has a metallic appearance, it is not metal. This part is essential to the operations of the unit and will not interfere in normal operations.
