Greg, thank you for your inquiry! Our new dehumidifiers are designed to run at a consistent speed for a longer period of time using less energy. Appliances use more energy when they constantly turn off and on. Our dehumidifiers are designed to allow the fan components inside to run after the compressor turns off. This allows the internal components to cool and the machine to rest even though you may still hear something running. We do hope this information is helpful. If you have any additional questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us directly or by resubmitting a question on this Q&A website. -Kind Regards-
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Having the fan shut down at the same time as the condenser does seem to make sense. However, the fan helps to circulate the air so the unit can sample the room's humidity and mix things up a bit. The fan often seems to be running much of the time, maybe more than necessary, but it is very quiet and doesn't use much energy.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The fan shuts off now and then, but it is the humid time of year in Michigan. I suspect it will shut down more once the hot humid weather is over.
