“How likely is the need for additional 3 year warranty protection from the Geek Squad? Any benefits to purchasing it?”

• The first year is covered by the manufacturer; even though you're purchasing a 3 year warranty, it's actually only good for 2 years because it goes into effect when the manufacturer's warranty ends. And honestly, if I was going to purchase a warranty, it would be through Square Trade; 5 years on a dishwasher is only $114.99. Their warranty programs are awesome! I've used them and they stand behind everything. JMHO

• Pick a different model or you will definitely need the warranty to replace the lower arm (at least once per yr) at 65$ per replacement if you do it or ~125 service call. Honestly it's worth it to get a better unit without a gadgety lower arm.
