Hi there! Thank you for your question regarding model GCFE3059BF. The surface element knobs on this range are designed for standard operation and require a deliberate turn to activate a burner. However, this model does not feature a built-in child-lock or push-to-turn safety mechanism on the knobs. Because of this, the knobs could be turned if enough force is applied. If you have children or pets in the home, we recommend using aftermarket knob covers or safety guards for added protection, and keeping the cooktop area clear when the unit is not in use. - Reed
