- Answer This device is not designed for open water swimming nor reading HR in water. I'd recommend a multisport watch like the Forerunner 935 where you can pair a HR Strap that will record HR while swimming. Debbie with Garmin

- Answer There are many different alerts on the vivoactive 3 device. Some of the alerts are: Goal, Activity, Event, Range, and Recurring. The device offers an Auto Lap feature that will vibrate when each lap (mile, etc.,) has been reached. You set the distance in this feature to meet your needs.
