Works fine without a phone. You can setup a free online account and it will keep your week's activity log. I think the online account gets the info from vivo when you charge it with usb.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Needs a smart phone to get all the features. There are special activity trackers just for children that would probably work for a child.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It works on its own after you set it up through the app but to keep track of progress and use some of the other features you need the app. I use mine on its own during the day and then at night sync it to see my stats for the day. Garmin has a kids version of this tracker also I know cause I was researching for my own kid. The main difference between the two is that this one is rechargeable. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The device itself really only tracks and displays the activity for the current "day." So your 9-year old girl could use it by itself to just see activity for "today." You do have options other than a smartphone if she wants to keep and review activity data over time. Synchronizing it with an iPhone to track activity over time is just one option. My family only has one iPhone. So we linked one device to the iPhone. Then we linked a second device (through Garmin's Mobile app installation feature) to our newer laptop, which uses Windows 10. On that laptop, we can plug the device into a USB port (using the provided charging cable) or we can activate the Bluetooth features to sync data. We also have an older laptop which doesn't have Bluetooth features and runs on Windows 7. It worked for a while to link a device to that, using the "Computer" installation feature on the Garmin website. The problem we had is that the charging cable only worked a couple of times on the old USB port.; it stopped being recognized by the Garmin app on that computer and so it wouldn't upload the data. So that's why we now have one device linked to the iPhone and our other device linked to a newer computer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The vivosmart HR does have the ability to be used indpendantly, and a phone is not required. But to take advantage of all of the features (smart notifications, weather data, calendar alerts) the device would need to be paired with a compatible smartphone.
