Does it track running mileage? Or just steps? Son runs cross country ... Will this track his running or would he need to puchase watch instead... He has small wrists and most watches are just too big so thought this would be great!

It tracks the steps taken but you can enter the length of the step for walking and running.

It doesn't track steps, it tracks arm movements, so it isn't accurate at all.

It does allow for stride length customization, but is inaccurate in determining what movement is steps and what is just arm movement. It also automatically senses activity so you don't have the ability to click a button to start and end tracking (for start and end of a run). I think this device was developed for general activity. There are other devices out there for runners.

The vívofit 2 can record activities such as running. For improved accuracy, a custom step length can be set specifically for running. ^DK
