  • QuestionMy appliance stopped working today. Is it a fuse issue? If so, can I buy a replacement fuse for this model? Thank you!

    Asked by SG.

    • Answer Hi SG - Thanks for choosing GE Model JES1145SHSS. We are sorry to hear it is no longer working and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. If the microwave shuts down during a cooking cycle and appears to have no power, check the house circuit breaker and verify the outlet is getting power. You can try plugging something else into the outlet, like a night light, lamp, etc. If the outlet is getting power, the microwave may have overheated. Overheating can occur after several minutes of cooking (long cooking times) or if the microwave air clearance requirements have not been met. If the microwave turns off before the set time is complete, it can be due to a covered or blocked oven vent around the case. Uncover the vent or reposition the oven so that the vents are not blocked. This will assure adequate airflow around the oven. If power does not return to the microwave, this signals a problem. It could be one of many components, including a fuse. For safety reasons, we offer no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to high voltage (capacitor hold a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged), complexity of electronic circuitry and special equipment is needed to make a diagnosis. This model has a 1 Year Return to Vendor Warranty. Service is not available. Again, we are sorry for this experience. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue

  • QuestionHave an older model and ceiling of microwave is pealing off . Why does this happen and is it safe to use microwave ??

    Asked by Keri.

    • Answer Hello Keri - Thank you for reaching out about your microwave. We are sorry to hear about the interior of your microwave. Peeling paint can happen in a variety of ways. A consistent build up of moisture due to heating high moisture content foods can loosen the coating. Another reason could be arcing, due to metal being placed in the cavity, caused arcing and compromised the integrity of the coating. The cavity coating in our microwave ovens is selected to be safely used as a food-contact surface and meets our and applicable government requirements for such use. However, If the coating is actively flaking or paint is peeling anywhere inside the oven cavity (including under the turntable) discontinue the use of the microwave and replace it. Please let us know if you have any more questions. - John

  • QuestionWhat is the interior height- I have tall cups and need 10 inches inside height

    Asked by Lini.

    • Answer I'd say about 8.5 inches tall. I just measured, with the rotating glass tray and a bump in the ceiling 8.5 is the most I would expect. We bought this model because it was small on our limited counter space. The rotating tray is about 12-in diameter, so no problem for our plates.

  • QuestionJust bought mine- runs loud in cycles thoughout the time selected? Is this normal?

    Asked by Paul.

    • Answer Hi Paul - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding microwave operating sounds. We suggest to make sure the microwave is level (installed on flat surface). Make sure the turntable is properly installed. Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. Allow 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. See MICROWAVE AIR CLEARANCE - COUNTERTOP ONLY MODELS: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=21668 - Also, we suggest to view the following links- NORMAL OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS FOR A MICROWAVE: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=15900 - MICROWAVE - ARCING OR MAKING SOUNDS: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17875 - Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com - Sue
