QuestionI have a PEM31SF1SS microwave which I have to replace. It seems to be no longer available. Will the PZEM31SFSS fit the existing space? The dimensions seem to be slightly different.

- Answer HI Mandy. I am also in the process of replacing my PEM31SF1SS with the PEM31SFSS model. How did your replacement go? Mine mounts to the top of the cabinet so I will need the trim kit.

- Answer It is not a direct replacement. It is the closest to a direct replacement we could find. The trim kit for the new replacement would not fit the cabinet space.We had to remove the old trim kit box it was sitting in. I had to make footings so it would sit level with the bottom grill of the the old trim. Made shims for the sides and back so it wouldn’t move around. Then I had to trim off 2 fins from the upper grill. You will also have to trim most of the insides off the side trims. It was not a fun project. Again, not a direct replacement, but the only one that would fit in the cabinet space. Hope this helps.

It is compatible with GE® Optional 27" Built-In Trim Kit JX827DFWW and Optional 30" Built-In Trim Kit JX830DFWW. Trim Kits are not interchangeable. A trim kit consists of the trim frame, as well as an upper, lower, and rear duct that attaches to and encases the microwave inside the cabinet cut-out. It is important to only use the trim kit designed for that model.
