A:AnswerHi Jack,
Most range or cooktop models do not require a ventilation system or have a CFM requirement; however, we recommend checking the local residential codes in your area to see if one is required. All current OTR (over-the-range microwaves), including convection, Advantium ovens, vent hoods, and telescopic downdraft vents can be installed over gas cooking products with combined surface burner BTU rating of approximately 65,000 BTUs or less. As long as the 66" minimum clearance from the floor to the top of the microwave is followed there will be no performance or warranty problem. We hope that this helped! Thank you so much for your question. -Michael

A:AnswerWe replaced a Kenmore Elite that we purchased in June 2011 with this model. It is only about half an inch taller than the Kenmore. The mounting holes for the upper cabinet will not be the same so you'll be drilling more holes. Be careful mounting the paper template under the upper cabinet because the holes have to be spot on or you won't be able to mount it properly. Also, the rear bracket has different hook and hole positions so you won't be able to use the Kenmore bracket.

A:AnswerHi Len - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE! Some microwave models have a built-in 5-minute internal timer as a safety feature preventing the microwave from cooking without food inside, since doing so can cause the unit to overheat. If food is placed into the cavity before selecting a cooking sequence, opening and closing the door activates the switch, initiating the 5-minute internal timer. The door latch switch must be opened and closed before hitting “START,” which signals the unit that food has been placed inside. The "FOOD" or "Insert Food" message on the display means the microwave thinks food has not been added yet. To correct the issue, open and close the door again and press “START.” Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com - Sue
