QuestionIs the top front part where the air blows out suppose to be that open? Is there suppose to be a screen? It just seems so open for dirt to get into the microwave? Thanks for any feedback.

QuestionHi. I need to replace my GE Model #: JVM1850SM4SS. What is the current GE model. Also, will this one work in that same space. I understand it is a 16 cu ft rather than my current 1.8, but would it still fit. Also, I need a recirculating vent.

- Answer It has inside venting, but it is not set up like that from the factory. It is not hard to switch to inside venting and it has thorough directions to do so

QuestionI have a GE Spacemaker XL Microwave that needs replacing, it quit working after 25+ years. I am looking at this GE OTR one. However, when I measured it versus mine, the Depth is 15 9/16 and mine is 13 4/3 inches. Is there a problem with this?

- Answer Over the range microwave. It will replace nicely. Length and width are important. Depth means how far it will be over your range.

QuestionIn the installation video it says it needs to be 30" above the stove, that puts the bottom of the microwave at about 69" this seems way to hi? I believe the space between the 2 appliances is usually about 19"?

- Answer Thank you for asking this great question! The 30” refers to the distance between the top of the microwave to the surface of the cooktop. In other words, there should be 30” between the bottom of your cabinet and the cooktop. For more information, please refer to page 8 of your microwave’s “Installation Instructions”. QuestionI just bought and installed this unit. For some reason when I turned the unit on for the first time and all proceeding times, the vent comes on as soon as the microwave start operating. There's no way its too hot when it and the cooktop have not been on.

- Answer Mine does the same thing. The fan comes on immediately upon hitting start and the word “vent” appears in the display every single time you use the microwave to cook. I am not using the stove top so there is no heat rising from the stove. This vent seems to be separate from the high low vent fan which I am able to turn on and off by hitting the fan button. The “vent” comes on every time you cook and there’s no way to turn it off. My prior microwave (Exact same model) did not do this.
