A:AnswerHi JonS - The vent is located above the door. The microwave can be installed in a 12" min. - 13" deep cabinet. The microwave is 15 1/4" and will extend past the upper cabinet. The small amount of airflow should not affect cabinets. We suggest to view the Quick Specs at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=340169_jvm3160rf_c3.pdf - Also, if the model is not vented to the outside, the air will be recirculated through a disposable charcoal filter that helps remove smoke and odors. The charcoal filter should be replaced when it is noticeably dirty or discolored (usually after 6 to 12 months, depending
on usage). See pages 15-16 of the Owner's Manual: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-40669-6.PDF - Keep in touch! Sue

A:AnswerHi Bib- Yes, when the model is manufactured, these extra letters/numbers are placed on the appliance rating plate and product registration card. These letters/numbers are used to identify manufacturing specific data when the appliance is made. Should service or parts be needed, these are used as identifiers for the specific appliance. Thanks for choosing GE! SUE@GEA
A:AnswerHello joann - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. We are sorry to learn of your microwave. In the event of a hole in the microwave’s cavity wall, the damage is non-repairable and you should discontinue use of the product. It is also recommended that the microwave be replaced if arcing continues to occur. Minor chips to the coating on the microwave's interior cavity will not affect the product's performance. If the coating is actively flaking or peeling anywhere inside the oven cavity (including under the turntable) discontinue the use of the microwave and replace it. The microwave is not repairable. The cavity coating in GE microwaves is selected to be safely used as a food-contact surface and meets GE’s and applicable government requirements for such use. No lead or other toxic materials are added to the cavity coating material used in GE microwave ovens. The inadvertent ingestion of small amounts of peeling coating does not create a health risk. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
