A:AnswerMy GE Profile Microwave is Model number JVM7195SK6SS and the light turns on when I open the door. I searched for your model number and couldn't find an exact match. However, when you open the microwave door and look at the same sticker where your model# was located you should see a QR code. Your mobile phone's photo app should recognize the QR code and offer to take you directly to your microwave's page on GE's website. See if they have a video or perhaps the manual addresses the light.
I too would expect any microwave with a light to turn on when you open the door.
