Hello- We appreciate your question and are happy to help! We don't recommend putting heavy items or large items on top the freezer, however it is fine to temporarily have a lamp and notebooks on top. We recommend 3 inches of clearance on all sides and the back. Maintaining these air clearances will provide proper air circulation and ease of installation. We hope this is helpful!
