Hi there - we checked the information for this unit, and we can confirm that this is a top-control dishwasher. The display is part of this top-control setup that sits at the "top edge" of the door, and it hides below the top of the dishwasher when the door is closed. You can take a look at the pictures on this product page for a visual reference of the display. -- During operation, the display shows the total number of minutes remaining in the cycle.
