We do hate to hear you are dissatisfied with the clock display on the microwave. We know that may be frustrating. While there is an option to turn the clock display on or off (you can press and hold 0 for about 3 seconds to do so), there is not a way to brighten the display or space the numbers further apart. Model JES2051DNWW is not able to be built in with a trim kit since it is designed for countertop use only. You may want to consider PEB7227ANDD, which is built-in compatible and has very similar dimensions. The optional stainless steel trim kits for this model are JX7227SLSS (27") and JX7230SLSS (30"). To set the timer, press TIMER ON/OFF and enter the time you want to count down. Next, press TIMER ON/OFF to start. When the time is up, the oven will signal. To turn off the timer signal, press TIMER

You will also have to purchase a new trim kit. It's important to only use the trim kit designed for that model so that the trim kit fits the microwave, and provides the proper air flow that it needs.
