Q: Can this microwave be mounted under a cabinet not over a stove?
A: Yes. I am a contractor and I have installed these in cabinetry with a trim kit many times. I am not aware if anyone makes an under cabinet mounting kit. Probably would require a shelf system to bear the weight.
A: Thanks for checking with us. This particular model (GCST20S1WSS) is a countertop only model and can't be built-in with a trim kit. We recommend model PCWK22U1WDD and one of the following trim kits that are approved. X7227SLSS (Stainless steel); JX7230SLSS (Stainless steel). We don't have a current microwave that will allow you to use your trim kit. It is important to only use the trim kit designed for the specific microwave model so that the trim kit fits the microwave and provides the proper air flow that it needs. Thank you! Joyce@GEAppliances
Q: Does this unit fit the LG MK2030 Trim Kit?
A: This is a counter top microwave and is not designed to be built-in. To ensure proper operation, we recommend you have a minimum of 3" of air clearance on each side and at the top as well as 1" clearance in the rear. -Vikki@GEAppliances
A: This microwave is intended for countertop use only. It is not approved for a built-in installation with a trim kit. You also cannot reuse a trim kit for another microwave unit as each microwave is going to have a custom one made for that specific unit. Dianna@GE Appliances
Q: Does this replace GE Model JEB1860SM2SS
A: No, this model is not approved for built-in installation. The comparable replacement model that can be built-in is the PCWK22U1WDD. You will also need the compatible built-kit. -Vikki@GEAppliances
A: This is a countertop microwave only. It is not approved to be built in. We have model PCWK15C1WSS that is closest in size to your current unit. Your space will need to be slightly modified for this model. You'll also need to ensure you use the hardware and brackets that come with the new microwave, as they are model specific. -Kacie@GEAppliances
Q: What is the color of the interior? And does the interior light stay on when the door is open?
A: We can confirm that the interior of this model is a white painted epoxy finish. The interior light will come on when the door is opened and while cooking.
A: Thank you for taking the time to leave us your question. Based on the size and features of your current microwave we suggest PEB7227ANDD as a great replacement. Depending on the size and color trim kit you want there are several options, we have listen listed them here- 27" Trim Kits: JX7227BLTS (Black Stainless) JX7227FMDS (Black Slate) JX7227SLSS (Stainless steel); JX7227ELES (Slate)30" Trim Kits: JX7230BLTS (Black Stainless) JX7230FMDS (Black Slate) JX7230SLSS (Stainless steel); JX7230ELES (Slate).

This model GCST20S1WSS is nearly identical to a 2010 model JEB 1860SM1SS, which I just replaced using the existing trim. The term “countertop” means it could be used on the counter or placed in an opening above the oven as I did. Open the oven door and unscrew the four pan screws holding the trim, remove and set aside. Remove the screws holding the bottom inner trim mounting frame from the cabinet opening edge. With a helper, slide the old oven out, unplug it from the 110 outlet at the rear of the cabinet. Important. Before inserting the new, you must unlock the child proof oven door using the thumb screw on the right side and permanently unlock it per the instructions by turning the thumb screw with a Phillips head. Slide in the new unlocked oven and reinstall the trim.

My wife and I both LOVE this microwave much better than our previous one! It heats liquids and solids much more consistently and throughly. It does have multiple auto buttons with sensor cooking for popcorn, beverages, potato, vegetable and chicken/fish. It has a Defrost with Auto/Time features. I love the Add 30 seconds button. Plus, my wife LOVES that the light inside is on and bright when heating. Our previous one was so dim, you couldn't keep an eye on the food you were cooking or liquid you were heating. My wife's only suggestion to GE is that our previous microwave had preset buttons for melting (butter/chocolate) and soften (butter) when she's baking. She can do these actions with this microwave but has to program these manually. She liked just being able to push a button (thus her 4 rating for Cook Setting; I'd have given it a 5).

It's big enough to fit something rather tall/large. It has a nice rotating glass plate. It's a pretty black microwave. High wattage.
