    • Answer Hi OKCmaestro - Yes, this laundry center operates on 208V or 240V. Most electric dryers are rated at 240 volt. The nominal voltage is 240 volt, but homes may have 208V, 220V, or 240V power supply. Any appliance that is rated for 240 volts can also be used on a 220V or 208V outlet. Identify the plug type as per the house receptacle before purchasing line cord. See page 8 of the Installation Guide at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-16781-3.pdf - Note: Starting January 1, 1996, the NEC required that new construction (including remodeling) utilizes 4-conductor connections to 120/240 or 120/208 volt electric ranges, wall ovens, cooktops and dryers. Builders, remodelers, etc., cannot use 3-conductor power connections. These 3-wire connections ground the frame of the appliance to the neutral conductor by means of a grounding strap (ground link) between the chassis and the neutral terminal at the wiring connection point. With the 1996 change, a separate ground wire from the junction box is required to ground the frame of the appliances. For installations with pig tails, it means the power cords have to have 4-pronged plugs. Replacement products in "existing" construction may continue to use the typical 3-prong cord.   • QuestionCan I use regular detergent or does it have to be the High Efficiency (HE) detergent? Manual says to use HE but I thought it would be regular detergent or it doesn’t really matter which is used?

    • Answer Hi Theresa - GE Appliances recommends HE (High Efficiency) detergent be used in all of our washers (past and present models) for optimum wash performance. HE detergent works best with the lower water levels used in all modern washing machines and cleans just as well as standard detergents regardless of the machine type or age. Thanks for choosing GE!   • QuestionIs the electric dryer 120v?

    • Answer Hi - The dryer operates on 208V/240V (30 Amp). It does not operate on 120V. Unitized washer dryer units only have one power cord (sold separately). There is not a separate cord for the washer and the dryer. The 240/208V will power the dryer, and the unit internally steps it down to 110/120V for the washer. Thanks for viewing GE! Sue
