Hi Paddy. Good question. Thanks to the feeler arm or paddle on your icemaker, it will be able to sense when to stop making ice. The feeler arm will raise as ice fills the bucket or the paddle with encounter resistance as it extends outward to check on the amount in the bucket. Either one of these will tell the icemaker to stop making ice until the bucket is empty or ice is used to cause that amount to lessen, then the unit will start to re-fill the bucket.
