Yes. There is an on/off switch on the ice maker.

I was told I could have a technician come out and remove the ice maker but because it is small and doesn't take up much room I decided not to do it. I just keep an ice tray and ice cube trays on the top shelf in the freezer compartment. The ice freezes in a few hours.
