Hi Birdland- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We are excited to hear of your interest! Yes, the dishwasher features a lower Wash Your Way Customizable Rack. The lower rack has removable tines that are positioned in one continuous loading direction. With most racks, the tines face opposite directions, so plates and dishes face each other in the center of the rack. With the Wash Your Way rack, plates face in one continuous direction versus changing direction in the center. Align the tines to fit your best loading direction based on which side of the sink the dishwasher is located. The tines can also be completely removed to create a 100% flat loading space, perfect for large cookware items such as stock pots. Remove just one row or both rows of tines. yes. you squeeze the rack a lil and they pop out as a two row insert

You can fold them down and remove them as well. There are some small clips that come off which allow the 2 racks of tines in the back to be removed
