There is an Autosense cycle that probably uses sensors. But also Heavy, Normal, and Light cycle with fixed times depending on options selected. I normally pre rinse so no chunks left stuck to plates and rarely use auto sense. All the cycles take longer than my old machine, up to 3 or 4 hours for auto sense. The only things that didn’t get squeaky clean were pots I had cooked rice in. Left spots where the rice grains were and had to be hand washed. I’ve had the machine 4 months. My only technical complaint is that it doesn’t dry very well at all because there is inadequate air flow during the dry cycle. But looked at other brands and most have the same design for drying. I was also unhappy with the installtion costs: $150 to Best Buy and another $170 to the installer because they had to replace a valve that prolly cost $15 and took 5 minutes. A rip off. I ended up paying $1100 for a $650 machine.

AutoSense cycle automatically senses the soil level and adjusts the wash cycle accordingly. Actual cycle times vary based on soil level, water temperature, and options selected. You can rinse your dishes if desired. The cycle time will be less if it senses a low soil level. You can also choose from Heavy Wash, Normal Wash, Light Wash with set cycle times.
