Q: QuestionOld microwave was a Whirlpool model number MT4140SKB, 1.4 cubic feet. We have grill that was used over the cut out. also kept the sheet metal frame that supported it and into which it was screwed. What new make and model might fit?

Q: QuestionI am looking for a GE microwave that can use the built in kit I already have "JX827SS", and fit in the same space as my old GE monogram. The height of the opening in my cabinet is 13" height/ 24" wide/ 17" depth.

• A:Answer PEB7227DL is the 2.2 cubic foot microwave that fits this trim kit for cabinet installation. There are additional letters at the end of the model number indicating the color, black, slate gray or stainless steel. The SS at the end of the trim kit indicates it is stainless steel also. Love mine and the trim kit looks great installed.

• A:Answer I don't know if that model will fit or not but I can tell you I had the same problem and, after trying several replacements of the same trim kit and microwave, I had to switch to a Kitchenaid microwave and trim kit instead. I have customer cut cabinets too and this one fit the same opening as the GE: Kitchenaid Model:KMCS3022GSS

If you look in the Manual and Guides Section of the kit listing these is a data sheet that if you click on it, you will find illustrations with clear measurements of opening for the microwave that will fit with this kit. The measurements of the microwave you mention are also listed deep in the listing also.

• A:Answer I don't think the answer here is correct. At least according to the GE website, the SS version of this trim kit (as opposed to the BB version) will work with the PEB7227DLBB; it is just a color difference for those wanting a SS trim.

• A:Answer This 27" trim kit fit perfectly around my 2.2 microwave so maybe you need the 30" kit. I wouldn't know what to recommend to you but I would suggest you take all your measurements of your opening & microwave to Best Buy for them to figure out for you. That's what I did as it was very confusing.

• A:Answer I believe GE makes a Gray surround or you could go with Slate (PEB7227ELES), Black Stainless BLTS, Black Slate FMDS, Stainless SLSS, White DLWW. I urge you to go to the website shown. "Build in microwaves and "Related Products and Accesories" tab that shows all the choices. VERY IMPORTANT!! NOTE: you will have a choice of 27" or 30" surround. It is probably most dependent if you have room for the larger one around the microwave cut out. I had to use the 27" otherwise it would have hung out over the side from the cabinets.
