I just bought one without a water dispenser. I have no intensions of connecting the water for anything. After being connected and on for a little bit, the refrigerator would suddenly make a loud hammering noise and then go silent again periodically over and over. We had a technician come out and informed us that because we did not connect the water supply and did not turn off the icemaker on the inside, the unit kept trying to draw water but there was none so the valve that controls that would vibrate and rattle loudly. He turned off the icemaker and - - - silence is golden. End of problem.

However, you can click on this link to be taken to an article that will detail the normal sounds that you should expect to hear from a refrigerator: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=15901 - We hope that this helped!
