• Hi! Thanks for asking. A humming noise when the microwave is not in operation would be normal. The transformer emits a slight humming sound that is usually not noticed. The transformer is used to power the clock. • Yes I noticed when you pointed out I do not know if it is normal or not I have a question My old ge Microwave unit had a light that you could see food cooking this one does not it only lights when you open the unit
